摘要: The etiology of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is diverse and frequently multi-factorial. SIBO thought to result from structural changes the gastrointestinal tract, disordered peristalsis stomach and/or intestine, or a disruption normal mucosal defenses intestine. Alcoholics are reported have higher rates SIBO, as diagnosed by jejunal aspirate; however, no data available on association between moderate alcohol consumption SIBO. To evaluate identify risk factors for using lactulose breath test (LBT). A retrospective chart review was completed 210 consecutive patients who underwent LBT 2008 2010. We reviewed demographic data, including age, race, body mass index, tobacco history, medication use, comorbid medical conditions, history abdominal surgery. study included 196 (68 % female; mean age 55 years), 93 whom had positive (47.4 %). Of those consumed amount alcohol, 58 % LBT, compared 38.9 % abstainers (P = 0.008). Those with cholecystectomy significantly lower than not (33.3 vs. 51.7 % respectively; P = 0.031). Neither proton pump inhibitor (PPI) use nor associated LBT. In this review, strong factor Cholecystectomy appeared be protective against PPI an increased
