摘要: Colombia is the fourth largest producer of palm oil in world with a growth 42% 2017, affecting its ecosystems and biodiversity. Here we review current understanding from science, policy, practice to help shape better fate for mammals across landscapes Colombia. In order prevent large mammal species erosion decimation as has happened South East Asia, following lessons zoning, infrastructure, harvest, monitoring research should be implemented. Native habitat irreplaceable. New frontiers occur degraded ecosystems, adequate governance without requirement new infrastructure. Roads favor hunting, logging, disorganized human occupation. Plantations conserve water bodies forests ensure connectivity refuge sensitive species. Higher structural complexity added plants desired varied assemblage. Harvest done manually crepuscular work hours avoided. Application abovementioned tactics will consolidate more sustainable strategy future mega-diverse countries.
