摘要: The long-tailed goral, Naemorhedus caudatus, is an internationally endangered species. This species distributed throughout Northeastern Asia including China, the Russian Far East and Korean peninsula. population size of gorals currently decreasing in South Korea, thus effective conservation animal urgently needed. Although evolution phylogeny this have been studied, genetic studies are needed to design management strategies. To evaluate present status diversity structure we investigated variability among 68 goral individuals from different regions, 11 captive zoo animals, at 12 microsatellite loci. level was moderate wild populations, but lower group. northeast region Korea distinct upper population, probably due natural climatic geographic conditions. characteristics group were more similar those than northeast, confirming that animals originated Seorak Mountain range. Direct translocations between populations not recommended considering levels two populations. study highlights importance information designing strategies goral.
