摘要: The frequencies of fever, parenchymal infiltration, and bacteremia were studied prospectively after 100 flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopies performed transnasally under topical anesthesia. Fever occurred 16 per cent, 6 cent the procedures. Most complications mild transient; however, one patient developed rapidly progressive pneumonia died. No organisms isolated from cultures blood drawn at time procedure or during complications. most commonly sputum patients who aerobic anaerobic bacteria normally found in mouth. Isolation a significant pathogen before did not predispose to development complication. Advanced age (greater than 60 years) endoscopic findings abnormalities predisposing factors. Bronchial brushing, but bronchial biopsy washing, was associated with significantly higher complication rates carcinomas those without neoplasm. mechanism fever infiltration is thought be related obstructive atelectasis infection produced by present airways
