摘要: In Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) networks, secondary users (SUs) scavenge for unused frequency spectrum by performing sensing. Multi-stage sensing is a novel concept that refers to general class of DSA algorithms divide the process into number sequential stages. The stages and technique per stage can be used optimize performance with respect SU throughput, energy consumption bit, probability collision between licensed (primary) SUs. this work, we present first analytical framework which enables evaluation different multi-channel multi-stage networks. contribution our work lies in studying effect following parameters on performance: stages, physical layer duration stage, single parallel channel access, available channels, primary user (PU) traffic, as well MAC algorithms. Our results emphasize fact superior counterpart, where optimal depend network traffic. For general, specific, systems assign PU resources its subscribers more efficiently if knowledge temporal statistics available. explore benefit incorporating traffic Moreover, study impact parameter estimation errors algorithm performance. We extend investigate accuracy bounds estimation. mathematical analysis estimating mean duty cycle, off- on-times, expressed terms squared error. applies model assuming exponentially distributed on-times. derive Cramer-Rao error are derived case when perfect assumed one parameters, all jointly estimated. Besides, studied analytically. Furthermore, propose estimators quantify their accuracy. Finally, develop blind based theoretical expressions. show that, fixed observation window length, lower bounded due correlation samples, while other hand, cycle eliminated increasing samples.
