摘要: The authors have studied by /sup 31/P NMR both the native purple membrane and deionized obtained removal of endogenous cations. latter was shown to undergo a blue color transition with increasing pH. In parallel this transition, spectrum at high concentration dramatically changed from normal bilayer powder pattern seemingly inverted line shape. This effect not observed in found be reversed addition cations membrane. Several data indicated that inversion shape is due orientation fragments perpendicular magnetic field. Further studies membranes can such but favorable range greatly increased for preparation. attributed differences bacteriorhodopsin conformation and/or surface charge two membranes.
