摘要: Abstract Purpose: Total scalp radiotherapy is required in a variety of clinical situations. We compared conventional lateral photon-electron (LPE) technique with tomotherapy (intensity-modulated [IMRT]). Methods and Materials: A patient Merkel cell carcinoma was treated at our institution using treatment techniques. Treatment plans were conducted three-dimensional planning IMRT. The target volume included the entire tissue volumes to surface underlying cranial bone, as well superficial deep neck nodes bilateral neck. To provide consistent comparison between IMRT plans, dose distributions normalized such that 90% received prescription dose. Results: Examination results revealed an acceptable dose-volume histogram adequate coverage LPE technique. plan provided more homogeneous volume; however, critical structure doses uniformly higher than for plan. Conclusions: resulted substantial lens, brain, orbit, making it clinically unacceptable Overall, superior.
