Physicochemical characteristics and trophic state evaluation of post glacial mountain lake using multivariate analysis

摘要: The current study deals with the physicochemical characterization, temporal variability and trophic state evaluation of a post glacial mountain lake in eastern Himalaya during period 2014-2016. Notable seasonal variations are recorded for parameters water. values electrical conductivity, total suspended solids, dissolved alkalinity Chloride higher rainy season. Concentrations phosphorous (136.78±29.14 µg/L), nitrogen (7177.78±1346.70 µg/L) Chlorophyll-a (38.54±21.67 water distinctly than recommended standards eutrophic condition lake/surface Application multivariate tools such as cluster analysis principal component reveals that ionic constituents majorly associated to geogenic exogenic factors, minor influences. Trophic indices based on transparency (3.15±1.57), (74.72±3.39), (82.64±2.83) exhibit hypertrophic nature water; while index chlorophyll-a indicate condition. Deviations between (TSICHLa-TSISD: -14±7.88, TSICHLa-TSITP: -9.17±3.33, TSICHLa-TSITN: -17.56±5.29) infer nutrients (phosphorus nitrogen) not limiting factors algal biomass, non-algal components solids soil/sediment particles affects light attenuation monitored lake. observations reveal is alarming stage. Therefore, measures should be taken urgent basis order intercept increasing trend eutrophication, restoration quality integrated ecosystem.
