Modern Andrology: From Semen Analysis to Postgenomic Studies of the Male Gametes

摘要: A male factor is implicated in about 50% of couples treated with advanced assisted reproductive techniques (in vitro fertilization [IVF] or intracytoplasmic sperm injection [ICSI]). An important function spermatozoa to deliver the paternal genome oocyte. However, neither routine testing fertility potential, nor its treatment, addresses specific mechanisms by which spermatozoal factors may impact outcome. Recently, a number screening tests for DNA integrity have been proposed assess chromatin abnormalities. These include nonspecific strand breaks, numerical abnormalities chromosome content, and alterations epigenetic regulation genome. This minireview discusses methods influence on reproduction beyond that can be appreciated simple quantitative morphologic evaluation spermatozoa. Finally, new data how select "best fit" ICSI will presented.
