摘要: Plant productivity and yield are dependent on source-sink relationships, i.e. the capacity of source leaves to fix CO2 developing sink tissues organs assimilate convert this fixed carbon into dry matter. Studies from our laboratories as well others have demonstrated that rice mainly sink-limited during its development because limited utilize initial photosynthetic product (triose phosphate). This limitation in triose phosphate utilization, evident at both vegetative reproductive stages development, may be associated with for carbohydrate synthesis (which poor accumulators starch) or feedback due strength seeds. Strategies improving utilization by enhancing starch production seeds expression engineered genes ADP glucose pyrophosphorylase, a key regulatory enzyme biosynthesis, discussed.
