摘要: The aim of this study was to prepare activated carbon from tobacco stalks using microwave heating. prepared applied as an adsorbent in methylene blue (MB) removal water. optimum conditions for preparation were a radiation power 280 W period six minutes after the impregnation precursor material with 30% ZnCl 2 24 hours. yield and iodine number 49.43% 1,264.51 mg/g respectively. also had point zero charge 5.81 adsorption capacity 123.45 MB. MB pH 6.5 dosage 0.2 g/50 mL at 25 °C. kinetics followed pseudo second order kinetic model intra-particle diffusion suggesting two-step mechanism. data fitted well within Langmuir isotherm model. Tobacco can successfully be turned into economically important product.
