摘要: Abstract Background We estimated the burden of outpatient influenza and cases prevented by vaccination during 2011/2012 2012/2013 seasons using data from United States Influenza Vaccine Effectiveness (US Flu VE) Network. Methods defined source populations persons who could seek care for acute respiratory illness (ARI) at each five US VE Network sites. identified all members population were tested surveillance. Each influenza-positive subject received a sampling weight based on proportion influenza, stratified site, age, other factors. used weights to estimate cumulative incidence medically attended in populations. averted estimates incidence, vaccine coverage, effectiveness. Results Cumulative ranged 0.8% 2.8% across sites 2.6% 6.5% season. Stratified 1.2% among adults 50 years age older 10.9% children 6 months 8 2012/2013. Cases 4 41 per 1000 vaccinees, depending study site year. Conclusions The varies greatly year even geographic region within same number overall coverage.
