摘要: Summary Objectives Myringosclerosis is a common sequela of ventilation tube insertion for the treatment otitis media with effusion. Several antioxidants have been identified to prevent myringosclerosis. The objective this study was investigate effect caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) on prevention experimentally induced Methods Thirty-five Sprague–Dawley rats were unilaterally myringotomized. divided into four groups randomly: group 1 received no treatment, 2 intraperitoneally administered saline and 3 CAPE. tympanic membranes examined by otomicroscopy 15th day after treatment. then harvested evaluated histologically light microscopy. Results from showed extensive myringosclerosis; those similar occurrence However, had reduced myringosclerosis otomicroscopic evaluation. Under microscopic examination, lamina propria pars tensa found be thicker more sclerotic in when compared 3. Conclusions Systemic CAPE effective lesions myringotomized rat membranes.
