Development of woody vegetation in treefall gaps in a beech‐sugar maple forest

摘要: Treefall gaps sampled for size, age, and woody vegetation in 1977 were resampled 1981. Large had more larger stems than did small gaps; however, basal area number of per unit remained fairly constant over the range gap sizes encountered. Overall, most species showed little change their relative importance values different or ages. However, four main canopy differed responses. Acer saccharum Marsh, reached maximum gaps, Liriodendron tulipifera L. Fraxinus americana large ones. As aged, decreased while Fagus grandifolia Ehrh. gained all sizes.
