摘要: Somnambulism, or sleepwalking, can give rise to a wide range of adverse consequences and is one the leading causes sleep-related injury. Accurate diagnosis crucial for proper management imperative in an ever-increasing number medicolegal cases implicating violence. Unfortunately, several widely held views sleepwalking are characterised by key misconceptions, some established diagnostic criteria inconsistent with research findings. The traditional idea somnambulism as disorder arousal might be too restrictive comprehensive view should include simultaneous interplay between states sleep wakefulness. Abnormal physiology, state dissociation, genetic factors explain pathophysiology disorder.
