摘要: There is evidence that breeding failure associated with divorce and dispersal in many bird species. However, deviations from the general pattern "success-stay/failure-leave" seem to be common, suggesting factors other than performance may importantly influence mate habitat selection. Moreover, variability response suggests coexistence of different evolutionary strategies site selection within a population. In this study, we assessed how individuals conform success-stay/failure-leave kittiwakes (Rissa tridactyla), aimed identify categories presenting behavioural patterns. We considered individual attributes (experience, prior residence at nest site, multiple attempts), pair (arrival asynchrony, timing failure, duration), productivity patches. Timing was an important factor. Pair reunion probability close 0.5 failed pairs, but it consistently higher early late pairs.
