摘要: Methods of studying wildlife are often restricted by habitat. Tracking, the reconstruction activity from spoor animals, is an age-old technique that still frequently used modern-day hunter/gatherer communities. Although previously in behavioural studies, tracking has not been tested for its scientific merit. In this paper, we provide data towards such a description first testing reliability tracking, and second attempting to measure techniques tracking. test accuracy, Ju/'Hoan San team was correct most (98% 569) reconstructions. Most significant these were identification individually known animals complex behaviour spoor. Measurements different species age/sex groups some showed differences. Variation soil conditions, however, affected measurements so subtle differences between could be measured. spacing distances placement feet during gaits gave statistical schematic values indicate trackers behaviour. Indigenous peoples, as Ju/'Hoan, have in-depth knowledge nature. Collaboration western science traditional greatly benefit studies wildlife.
