摘要: Cloning and sequence analysis of cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) cDNA, representing a pentameric protein, revealed 755 amino acid residues with calculated molecular mass 82,700 Da. Expression the cDNA in COS cells showed that COMP is homopolymer composed five identical disulfide-linked subunits. homologous to carboxyl-terminal half thrombospondin, homologies include 89% 54% respectively. The similarities are most pronounced domains calcium binding type 3 repeat which about 60% identical. In 2/epidermal growth factor two proteins contain 41% residues. amino-terminal 84-amino unique for COMP. Comparison sequences 2 thrombospondins shows product gene not result an alternatively spliced thrombospondin gene.
