摘要: Pulmonary Neuroepithelial Bodies (NEB) consist of clusters innervated amine- and peptide-containing cells distributed within the airway epithelium human animal lungs (1–3). NEB appear particularly prominent in fetal neonatal are thought to function as hypoxia-sensitive chemoreceptors (2,4). The latter suggestion is based on studies rabbits vivo showing increased exocytosis neurosecretory granules decreased amine (serotonin, [5-HT]) fluorescence after exposure short-term acute hypoxia (2). More recently, infranodose vagotomy was shown abolish this hypoxic response, suggesting that modulated via sensory nerve fibers derived from vagus (5).
