Operative hysteroscopy in the outpatient setting: its role within a gynaecology service

摘要: A rapid-access gynaecology service was launched at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in January 2003, offering, among else, trans-vaginal ultrasound outpatient hysteroscopy on a see-and-treat basis. Our aim to review the performance of this new its first year. Furthermore, critically discuss role such clinics within gynaecology. Prospective collection data for 12 months conducted. One hundred one patients were seen. Hysteroscopy attempted 107 carried out successfully 103 them (96%). In four patients, but not possible. Polyps found 35 removed 29 (83%). The remaining six did seem suitable removal. Overall, only 10% who seen clinic eventually required general anaesthetic. Of referred from practitioners, 56% discharged after assessment treatment 44% had follow-up appointments organised our hospital. is effective potentially frees up important hospital resources, both operating theatres.
