Biodiversity and Fisheries: a study case in the south coast of Portugal (Algarve)

摘要: Biodiversity is now one of the main concerns worldwide. With increase people on Earth and activities dangerous to environment, like habitat destruction overexploitation, species extinction rates rapidly increased, raising serious for future biological diversity. Fishing oldest human food sources, catching a great number with variety techniques fishing gears. Undoubtedly, bottom trawl gear that raises most due its negative impact habitat, overexploitation commercial collateral effects non-commercial species. The southern coast Portugal (Algarve) important areas country. Recent studies show all captured by gears in area – trawl, purse seine trammel nets around 70% are always discarded, reasons low or lack importance, selectivity legislation. Direct observations revealed heavily trawled bottom, strong parallel marks caused doors nets, indicating high disturbance consequently communities.
