摘要: Abstract: Exposure of weanling rats to a diet containing elemental tellurium results in peripheral neuropathy characterized by segmental demyelination and minimal axonal degeneration. One the earliest ultrastructural abnormalities is an increased number cytoplasmic lipid droplets myelinating Schwann cells. The pathogenesis these was investigated using light electron microscopic autoradiography. Nerve lipids were either “prelabeled” with [3H]acetate via vivo intraneural injection 3 days before 2-day exposure tellurium, or “postlabeled” vitro incubation following tellurium. In prelabeled nerves, myelin became heavily labeled, but tellurium-induced rarely labeled. postlabeled induced most labeled structures within nerve. These data indicate that cells are derived from newly synthesized rather than early breakdown internalization lipids. biochemical abnormality observed inhibition cholesterol synthesis at squalene epoxidase step. This leads accumulation We conclude contain this accumulated lipid.
