摘要: Atherosclerosis is a chronic low-grade inflammatory disease that affects large and medium-sized arteries considered to be major underlying cause of cardiovascular (CVD). The high risk mortality by atherosclerosis has led the development new strategies for prevention management, including immunonutrition. Plant-based dietary patterns, functional foods, supplements, bioactive compounds such as Mediterranean Diet, berries, polyunsaturated fatty acids, ω-3 ω-6, vitamins E, A, C, D, coenzyme Q10, well phytochemicals isoflavones, stilbenes, sterols have been associated with improvement in atheroma plaque at an level.
