The passivation behaviour and pitting corrosion of a commercial grade α-brass (Cu/Zn:63/37) in neutral buffer solutions (borate phosphate) the presence absence chloride ions were investigated by electrochemical techniques. results indicated dezincification at highly enough anodic potentials both ions. susceptibility was found to depend on composition solution, ion concentration nature passive layer metal surface before pitting. Current transients corresponding passivity, identified analyzed.
