摘要: Background: Many children become infected with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) during their childhood. Since the clinical profile of EBV primary infection is challenging, it important to use best diagnostic means. Detection IgM against viral capsid antigen (VCA) by ELISA has been shown be a reliable method. Objectives: This study was conducted demonstrate incidence infection, among suspected patients referred Namazi hospital, Shiraz, Iran. Patients and Methods: The sample included 346 an age range 0 20 years (6.31 ± 4.66: 10.97 years). A volume 5 mL blood collected from each case. were divided four groups. sera tested for presence VCA-IgM commercially available Anti-EBV-VCA kit. Results: results indicated that 104 (30.0%) VCA positive, no significant difference in between males females. However, significantly different group I (0 - years) III (11 15 years), also IV (16 (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Considering results, accurate on time diagnosis both adolescents will help prevent unnecessary hospitalization, medication incorrect medical decisions. In addition, this decrease further treatment costs related procedures.
