摘要: Snow leopards share their remote mountains with poor, isolated communities that face increasing challenges, dwindling resources, and threats range from encroaching commercial interests to climate change. These are often marginalized, receiving little or no support government at local national level. Innovative approaches have been adopted in several countries for engaging directly snow leopard conservation by adopting the principle of comanagement, whereby both agencies responsibility for, any benefits from, conservation. Experience has shown effective legitimate community governance, particularly when mentored supported a third party organization, can play significant role making such arrangements work. This chapter highlights lessons learned efforts conserve through establishing governance structures building capacity engage comanagement agencies, provides examples Pakistan Afghanistan.
