摘要: Background: One of the popular indicators developing serious health conditions is waist-to-hip ratio (WHR). The appropriate WHR cutoff points are reported differently in US department and human services (US-DHHS), world organization (WHO), Asian studies. Objectives: current study aimed at comparing for a large sample Southern Iranian adults with 2 standard procedures Methods: In cross sectional study, data were collected from 16 341 within age range 20 to 70 years. Body compositions determined by bioelectrical impedance analysis method (BIA). Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive power (PPV), negative (NPV), receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curves used meet objectives investigation Results: sensitivity NPV both classifications higher females compared males. For males classifications, increase was associated NPV. all, WHO classification not good indicator obesity US-DHHC best correctly classify obese or non-obese subjects various groups. Conclusions: suitable 0.88 0.83, respectively similar those Southeastern recommended point Arab males; but different that females. Both WHO-WHR US-DHHS effective detect among all Neither under 40 years old.
