Overweight and obesity in the Eastern Mediterranean Region: can we control it?

摘要: Obesity has become an epidemic problem worldwide, and in the Eastern Mediterranean Region status of overweight reached alarming level. A prevalence 3%-9% obesity been recorded among preschool children, while that schoolchildren was 12%-25%. marked increase generally noted adolescents, ranging from 15% to 45%. In adulthood, women showed a higher (35%-75%) than men (30%-60%). Several factors, such as change dietary habits, socioeconomic inactivity multiparity (among women) determine this Region. There is urgent need for national programmes prevent control countries
