摘要: Disclosed herein is the discovery of a soluble MN/CA IX (s-CA IX) in body fluids, such as, urine and serum. Said s-CA comprises extracellular domain CA or portions thereof. The predominant species comprising proteoglycan-like (PG) carbonic anhydrase (CA) domain, having molecular weight about 50/54 kilodaltons (kd) upon Western blot. A smaller form 20 to 30 kd parts thereof, not linked PG has also been found fluids. Diagnostic/prognostic methods for precancer cancer that detect quantitate said are described. Also disclosed coexpression HER-2/neu/c-erbB-2 provides parallel, alternative potentially synergistic diagnostic/prognostic therapeutic strategies cancer. Further new IX-specific antibodies generated from IX-deficient mice, preferably monoclonal immunoreactive fragments engineered variants Such antibodies, useful diagnostically/prognostically therapeutically precancer. Particularly preferred specific non-immunodominant epitopes IX, which are, among other uses, alone but combination with immunodominant example, sandwich assay.
