摘要: Abstract Objective: To compare the effectiveness of penicillin V and amoxycillin with placebo in treatment adult patients acute sinusitis. Design: Randomised, double blind, controlled trial. Setting: Norwegian general practice. Subjects: 130 a clinical diagnosis sinusitis confirmed by computed tomography. Main outcome measures: Subjective status after three 10 days treatment, difference severity score between day 0 as evaluated practitioner, from tomography on 10, duration Results: Amoxycillin led to significantly faster better recovery than placebo. By 71 receiving antibiotic (86%) considered themselves be recovered or much compared 25 (57%) The mean (95% confidence interval) reductions scores were 5.4 (5.0 5.8) for V, 5.5 (4.9 6.0) amoxycillin, 3.4 (2.8 4.0) For groups combined number greatest degree improvement (scale 0-16)—that is, 5-16 10—was 31/83 (37%) 10/44 (23%) median was nine group, 11 17 group.
