摘要: The scarce research on the effects of moderate alcohol consumption mental health among older adults suggests a protective effect against depression. We prospectively examined association between patterns consumption, depression and psychological distress, using information from 5,299 community-dwelling ELSA Seniors-ENRICA cohorts. A Mediterranean drinking pattern (MDP) was defined as intake (<40 g/day for men; <24 g/day women) with preference wine only meals. Depression ascertained 10-item Geriatric Scale (GDS-10), self-report clinically-diagnosed depression, or being anti-depressant medication (Seniors-ENRICA); 8-item Center Epidemiologic Studies (CES-D) (ELSA). Psychological distress assessed General Health Questionnaire-12 (GHQ-12). Compared to never drinkers, drinkers showed comparable scores ENRICA-GDS-10 (PRR (95%CI): 1.03 (0.84–1.26)), ENRICA-GHQ-12 (0.88 (0.73–1.06)), ELSA-CES-D (0.92 (0.79–1.06)) ELSA-GHQ-12 (0.75 (0.55–1.01). MDP not associated GDS-10 GHQ-12 scores, depression; however an increased number symptoms (1.31 (1.03–1.66)). In conclusion, we found no consistent in adults.
