摘要: BACKGROUND: The rationale for rubella vaccination in the general population and screening pregnant women is prevention of congenital syndrome. objective this study was to evaluate effectiveness prenatal program Quebec. METHODS: A historical cross-sectional designed. Sixteen hospitals with obstetric services were randomly selected, 8 from among 35 "large" province (500 or more live births/year) 50 "small" (fewer than 500 births/year). total 2551 selected all mothers infants born between Apr. 1, 1993, Mar. 31, 1994, by means stratified 2-stage sampling. proportions screened vaccinated ascertained information obtained hospital chart, physician's office patient. RESULTS: overall (adjusted) rate 94.0%. rates significantly different large small (94.4% v. 89.6%). Five one had above 95.0%. likelihood not having been statistically higher who previously first time (4.8% 1.4%; p < 0.001). Of 200 seronegative at (8.4%), 79 postpartum, a positive serological result on subsequent testing did require vaccination, 59 postpartum; 62, status unknown. INTERPRETATION: Continued improvement practices needed, especially hospitals. Because are unacceptably low, it crucial that steps be taken address issue.
