摘要: Abstract Thyroid function was assessed in 110 patients who were remission for a period of 7.6±0.6 years (mean ±S.E.) (range 0.25-25 years) after the withdrawal antithyroid drug therapy thyrotoxicosis. On basis clinical examination and on results thyroid-function tests, following group identified: (I) euthyroid with normal plasma-total thyroxine (T4) triiodothyronine (T3) concentrations, but an absent or subnormal response plasma-thyrotrophin (T.S.H.) to thyrotrophin-releasing hormone (T.R.H.) (16%); (II) concentrations plasma total T4 T3 plasma-T.S.H. T.R.H. (59%); (III) circulating thyroid hormones basal plasma-T.S.H., exaggerated (13%); (IV) raised concentration (6%); (v) hypothyroid (6%). Although need short-term follow-up identify those treated drugs will relapse is well recognised, 16% all longer than 4 (10.8±0.7 present study showed some degree failure. Evidence hypothyroidism associated increased frequency microsomal antibodies. If morbidity late development be avoided, have been should long-term follow-up, as do surgically radioiodine.
