摘要: Spatial distribution of the red fox scats in Montes do Invernadeiro (Ourense, NW Spain) Scats seem to play an important role olfactory communication most carnivores, and their presumable function as territorial marks amongst canids (Canidae) has been longly argued at length. In this paper, spatial iberian (Vulpes vulpes silacea, Miller 1907) “Montes Invernadeiro” area, (Ourense province, analysed, by surveying some selected routes, that included forest roads, trails fire breaks. These itineraries were travelled nearly every 45 days, during a eight months period, yielding whole 196 excrements, mainly located on conspicuous sites (plants, raised spots, stones, trail intersections, carrion, from other species or anthropic objects), seemingly would enhance efficiency signals visual way. Faeces intersections situated notorious sites, while those found simple stretches usually lied just soil. differences can sustain case scats, since crossways, more exposed intrusion, provide resident animals therefore with best suitable place marks, they will be easily detected.
