Beyond palliative radiotherapy: a pilot multidisciplinary brain metastases clinic.

摘要: The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility a multidisciplinary palliative radiotherapy clinic for patients with brain metastases. We designed 6-month pilot Rapid Access Palliative Radiotherapy Program (RAPRP) metastases clinic. main goals were: (1) provide timely consultation and treatment, (2) assessment care, (3) facilitate accrual research studies, (4) be positive experience patients. Team members included radiation oncologist, therapist, nurse practitioner, social worker (SW), occupational therapist (OT), registered dietitian (RD). Patients underwent multidimensional patient-reported questionnaires completed patient satisfaction survey. Data were collected in prospective database collated standardized fashion descriptive statistics recorded as percentages, medians, ranges. ran weekly from August 5, 2009 January 27, 2010. In total, 33 seen. median time referral date was 6 days, 76% seen within 1 week. Most (94%) started their on day. Fifteen (45%) required by SW, 36% an OT, 33% RD. Ninety-one percent participated study. Eighty-six reported being very satisfied experience, 97% would recommend similar situation. RAPRP Brain Metastases Clinic successful providing care will continue beyond phase.
