摘要: Aortic dissection (AD) is a serious condition that affects 3/100,000 individuals year. Recently, case report was published describing an embalmed patient with aortic dissection. The purpose of this study to examine the frequency AD among 80 cadavers and confirm histopathologic evaluation. In seven cases grossly identified AD, six were determined be due embalming procedure only one true antemortem confirmed. These results suggest morphology can altered by administration fluid alterations mimic not on gross inspection but also postmortem imaging. Awareness artifact may prevent misdiagnosis in patient, point particularly useful for autopsy pathology include examination patient.
