摘要: The theory of dissipation ionospheric electric currents is extended to include viscosity. In a steady state (i.e. usually above about 140 km altitude) the joule plus viscous heating may be calculated by μ∇2v. E × B/B2. At lower altitudes where viscosity may, in some circumstances, relatively unimportant usual formula j. (E + v B). prevalent model auroral electrojets it found that can much more intense outside forms than within them. Heating due cause semi-annual variation thermosphere. Movement caused fields make contribution super-rotation midlatitude upper atmosphere. Random lead an eddy ‘viscosity’ or ‘exchange coefficientrs thermosphere magnitude ρER2/B3tR2|∇E|. tR correlation time random component ER and ρ air density. Theoretical conditions for significant field-aligned are derived.
