摘要: An increasing number of applications, such as electronic mail servers, web and personal information managers, handle large amounts homogeneous data. This data can be effectively represented records manipulated through simple operations, e.g., record reading, writing, searching. Unfortunately, modern storage systems are inappropriate for the needs these applications. On one side, file store only unstructured (byte strings) with very limited reliability guarantees. other relational databases structured provide both concurrency control transactions; but often too slow, complex, difficult to manage many paper presents a transactional that directly addresses The combines simplicity manageability system interface select few features managing record-oriented We describe principles guiding design our well its design. also present prototype implementation performance evaluation.
