摘要: BACKGROUND: Although chlorination is an effective and widely employed method of water disinfection, it suffers serious drawbacks such as the formation toxic chlorinated by-products. Therefore, other disinfection technologies have been researched developed, including advanced oxidation. RESULTS: The efficacy heterogeneous photocatalysis sonophotocatalysis induced by UV-A irradiation low frequency (24-80 kHz) ultrasound in presence TiO 2 photocatalyst peracetic acid (PAA) additional disinfectant to inactivate E. coli sterile was evaluated. PAA-assisted UV-A/TiO generally leads nearly complete inactivation 10-20 min contact time with extent depending on type loading (in range 100-500 mg L -1 ) PAA concentration 0.5-2 ). simultaneous application prompted further inactivation. CONCLUSIONS: proposed technology offers at short treatment times doses.
