摘要: Abstract Objective To determine whether vacuum-assisted venous return has clinical advantages over conventional gravity drainage apart from allowing the use of smaller cannulas and shorter tubing. Methods A total 150 valve operations were performed at our institution between February July 1999 using with small connected to short These compared (1) 83 April 1997 January 1998 initial version return, (2) 124 drainage. Priming volume, hematocrit value, red blood cell usage, product usage multivariably. comparisons covariate propensity adjusted for dissimilarities groups confirmed by propensity-matched pairs analysis. Results volume was 1.4 ± 0.4 L small-cannula 1.7 2.0 ( P = .001); 19%, 27%, 39%, respectively .002). Although ministernotomy also associated reduced Conclusions Vacuum-assisted results in higher values during cardiopulmonary bypass decreased usage.
