Who's in charge here?: Cooperative work and authority negotiation in police helicopter missions

摘要: A study-of collaboration and the ongoing negotiation of authority in police helicopter work focused on inflight communication one during two weeks operation. Data were drawn from audio video recordings internal external communications obtained observation physiological indicators stress workload. The factors observed included official relationship crew members, physical organization task setting, information available to subjects, Vie social collaboratiVe nature work. Language use aspects examined evidence hierarchy, teasing, rates initiation non-operationally relevant new topics by each member, mitigation levels, requests for information. Analysis data suggested that while there was hierarchy helicopter, language speakers not entirely predictable their positions but reflected momentary changes relation other, dictated situation. Implications other collaborative settings found these results, further research recommended.
