摘要: Seed potato crops are currently sprayed weekly with mineral oil to prevent transmission of the Potato virus Y (PVY; Potyviridae: Potyvirus), one most prevalent and important non-persistent viruses affecting production. In spite its wide usage as inhibitor transmission, mode action for is poorly known. The objective this study was quantify effect dosage time from application on inhibition PVY acquisition. bird cherry-oat aphid, Rhopalosiphum padi (L.) (Hemiptera: Aphididae), known vector PVY, used in all experiments. results indicated that efficiently decreased acquisition by 75 70% 1 day after 5 10 l ha−1, respectively. application; inhibits less than 4 days at 5 l ha−1 between 8 12 days 10 l ha−1. As detected body fewer aphids when they fed plants application, a change aphid probing behaviour oil-treated deduced. These support hypothesis physically binding tip stylets.
