摘要: The concentrations of mercury (Hg), selenium (Se) and metallothioneins (MT) were evaluated in fetuses, calves, juveniles adults the endangered coastal Franciscana dolphin (Pontoporia blainvillei) from Argentina. Mercury varied among analyzed tissues (liver, kidney, muscle brain), with liver showing higher all specimens. An age-dependent accumulation was found liver, kidney brain. No significant relationship between Hg MT for analyzed. Hepatic molar positively correlated those Se, indicating a great affinity these two elements. Furthermore, dark granules HgSe observed Kupffer cells by electron microscopy, suggesting role this macrophage detoxification Hg. A transfer through placenta proved. presence brain age classes did not show associated neurotoxicity.
