摘要: Monitoring the progression of osteoarthritis (OA) and effects therapy during clinical trials is still a challenge for present imaging techniques since they intrinsic limitations can be sensitive only in case advanced OA stages. In very severe cases, partial or complete joint replacement surgery solution reducing pain restoring functions. Poor quality practically all medical technologies with respect to surfaces metal implant calls development new that are stages preceding point irreversible damage cartilage tissue. this scenario, X-ray phase contrast modalities could play an important role provide improved compared conventional absorption radiography, similar even reduced tissue radiation dose. study, analyzer-based (ABI), technique refraction permitting high scatter rejection, has been successfully applied vitro on excised human synovial joints sheep implants. Pathological healthy as well implants have imaged projection computed tomography ABI mode at resolution clinically compatible doses (<10 mGy). Volume rendering segmentation permitted visualization from volumetric CT-scans. The results demonstrate unequivocal non-invasive diagnosis state disease considered tool orthopaedic research.
