摘要: Part review, part perspective, this article examines the applications and potential of in-vivo Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) for understanding environmental toxicity. In-vivo NMR can be applied in high field spectrometers using either magic angle spinning based approaches, or flow systems. Solution-state combination with a system provides low stress approach to monitor dissolved metabolites, while allows detection all components (solutions, gels solids), albeit additional caused by rapid sample spinning. With it is possible use same organisms control exposure studies (controls are prior inside NMR). As such individual variability reduced continual data collection over time temporal resolution required discern complex interconnected response pathways. When multidimensional combined isotopic labelling, wide range metabolites identified providing unique window into living metabolome that highly complementary more traditional metabolomics employing extracts, tissues, biofluids.
