摘要: The oxidation state of methionine and cysteine in normal cataractous lenses is reported. In young no was detected any protein fraction examined. Only the intrinsic membrane membrane-related components showed evidence old (60-65 years age) lenses. However, a similar age group, with development cataract, progressive, dramatic changes were observed. With severe cataracts, 60% or more membrane-associated found sulfoxide form, sulfone observed one case. Most oxidized to either disulfide form putative cysteic acid. Mixed disulfides glutathione Oxidative soluble as illustrated by alpha-crystallin occurred gradually. data clearly support viewpoint that extensive lens proteins occurs cataract it begins at fiber membrane.
