Alpha particle detection by electromagnetic scattering off of plasma fluctuations

摘要: A code has been developed which calculates the differential cross-section for scattering of incident gyrotron radiation off thermal fluctuations in a warm, weakly inhomogeneous magnetized plasma. The model is derived from linearized Vlasov-Maxwell equations by retaining all electromagnetic field addition to usual electron density fluctuations. Alpha particles are modelled using slowing down distribution with birth energy 3.5 MeV, while (bi-) Maxwellian used background Illustrative results parameters appropriate TFTR and JET presented. Different cases compared plotting ratio scattered power as function frequency, dispersion relation (X or O mode) enforced at every point. Cases dominated presented, role (electromagnetic) lower hybrid resonance an amplifier alpha particle signal made apparent
