摘要: The advent of DNA microarray technology has provided a means to identify changes in the expression thousands genes simultaneously. This research tool enabled investigators study effects adrenergic receptor (AR) stimulation on gene large scale and led identification many that are regulated by receptors (ARs). Microarrays have been used compare α1A-AR, α1B-AR, α1D-AR expression. work demonstrated all three α1-AR subtypes commonly regulate types genes. However, only one or two also identified. These data provide evidence physiological roles not redundant despite their activation same ligand, use common signal transduction pathways, overlapping tissue distributions. Microarray studies identified underlie AR-mediated regulation cell cycle, apoptosis, neuronal differentiation, hypertrophy, other biological processes ARs. In addition, microarrays accompany disease states, including cardiac neurodegeneration, hypermetabolism. purpose this chapter is review how contributed our understanding AR function at genomic level.
