摘要: ABOUT MEDITERRANEAN PLIO-PLEISTOCENE AMBIGUOUS NOMENCLATURE Eustatic variations of sea level are frequent during geological times. Such considered with attention by geologists, particulary since the development sequence stratigraphy. Integrated to stratigraphy, changes used define sedimentary cycles and then stratigraphic stages. In Mediterranean area, notion cannot be easily integrated definition Plio-pleistocene stages (Zanclean, Plaisancian, Tabianian, Astian, Santemian, Emilian, Calabrian, Sicilian, Milazzian) because eustatic often overprinted amplitude vertical movements due tectonics, specially in Calabrian Sicilian areas. Moreover, lack precise data related paleoenvironments (particulary paleobathymetric data), prevents a serious estimation changes. many case, theses mediterranean were not defined reference world wide cycles, but using local anomalies, tectonic origin.
