An orally administered opiate blocker, naltrexone, attenuates self-injurious behavior

摘要: Several recent reports have indicated that opioid blockers are effective in attenuating self-injurious behavior (SIB). In the present study, four patients with SIB were challenged fixed doses (0, 25, 50, 100 mg) of naltrexone. a double-blind procedure, all received each dose on different week as determined by latin square design. Naltrexone was given Monday and Wednesday week, videotaped daily for 10 minutes morning afternoon. The tapes scored incidents SIB, stereotypy, activity, interrater reliability 0.93. Conners Teacher Rating Scale administered staff afternoon day. Vineland completed (Thursday). All had decreased when treated Three their naltrexone increased.
